I installed an 11-zone residential irrigation system back in May and today I found 3 of the 11 valves that appear to be stuck open. It is a 1 HP shallow well pump with a 1 1/4" intake and a 1" discharge.

I plan to go back tomorrow and make sure it is not a timer issue. If it is not a timer issue, all I know to do is clean out of replace the guts of the valves.

How do you test for "dirty water?"

If, after testing, I find that they are stuck open due to "dirty water," what type filtering do you recommend? Hopefully something that can be installed on the discharge line right at the pump.

Thanks / Regards,

Ros
