    Well Manager System

    Hi,

I was wondering if you had any experience with either the Well Manager or Herculian Consta Boost systems by Reid Plumbin Products? It seems that they have a complete system for low flow or low yield wells that takes care of low or no flow water situations and at the same time uses a CSV to maintain constant house pressure.

I currently have a low flow well <2.5 gallons per minute and have a somewhat unused poly storage tank that is misconfigured for our needs. This application appears to be in line with some of the suggestions I have found on your site in using a submersible pump inside the cistern. The torque question seems to be answered with the tank that they offer. Your thoughts?

Do you have a link to their site? I have never heard of them, but there are a lot of companies who offer Booster pumps including myself. Ours is not a package deal though. We size each one to meet the customers needs. I do like the submersible in the tank much better than the centrifugal or jet pump systems.

Yes, there are actually two urls (one for the constaboost, the other for well manager):

    http://www.wellmanager.com/wellmanager.htm
    http://www.wellmanager.com/Constaboost_for_Wells.htm

I would love to get your thoughts / comments.

I was looking at the site more closely and it appears that they offer a PumpChamber that can be used with any existing cistern. I am guessing you would have to use a hole saw to drill a hole that can accept the chamber and then use something like a uniseal gasket to provide a positive seal. The price seems a little pricely though and it is not clear exactly what you get for this price.

The Well Manager has been around for a long time and they have a good reputation. I am sure you can piece together a system for less money but, these guys have it well thought out and packaged nicely. I think they have some very inventive ways to get the most from a weak well with the least amount of storage tanks.

    Valveman,

Thanks for the information. Are they using your Cycle Stop Valves?

Yes, they have been using the CSV for many years, so they must be pretty smart! LOL!

Cobra, you say a misapplied tank, a and 2.5 gpm well. What size well do you have; diameter and depth and static water level? What's wrong with the tank?

I don't see any means to clean the Well Manager tanks. All atmospheric water storage tanks require periodic cleaning...

I only meant that the storage tank (550 gal) is not configured as an active part of the current water system setup. The tank is filled through a 1/2" line and is controlled by a mechanical float in the tank. If the float is open, then the tank will fill at the same time the pressure tanks fill.

The water from the tank is pumped to the pressure tanks from a jet pump on the outlet of the tank. A backflow preventor is installed after the pump to prevent any water from going back into the tank from the pressure tanks. The tank water is only used when the pumptec control for the submersible activates and the system pressure falls below the low point set for the jet pup.

My well diameter is a 6 inches. The well depth is 500 ft with a storage capacity of 711 gallons (this is off the original data filed with the town). The well actually produces 3 gpm from this same table.

There is a great deal of iron in the water. It clogged the original cullighan softner and was on the way to running the new twin tank unit until I put in an inline big blue filter. I know this is a no no, but it has made a difference in the water (not as much staining).

So with 711 gallons in the well, why have this atmospheric storage tank?

    How high is the iron?

Is the water discolored coming out of the well?

Coming out of this storage tank?

What control valve on the twin tank softener? What size tanks?
