    Pump from storage tank

    Hello,

Thanks, Speedbump for the advives on the float switches, I purchased the up/down floats switches from you and now I am ready for the next phase of pumping the water from the tank (1500 gal) to the irrigation system. My sprinkler zone is consumes about 17-20 GPM, the location of the tank and the sprinkler system is flat, the furthest zone from the tank is about 250 ft. I have an existing 20 gal pressure tank and pressure switch that i can use for this setup. I need your advice on the type and size of pump for this application. Please give me all the different options.

    Thanks

The two options are either a Jet Pump next to the tank or a Submersible Pump in the tank. I prefer the submersible. It is far more efficient and is capable of better pressures than the jet. A centrifugal would also work, but is not capable of the pressures of the other two pumps.

A one horse jet would be able to give you the 20 gpm @ almost 50 psi. A one horse sub could give you 20 gpm @ 82lbs or you could go with the 3/4hp and still have 60 psi. These are both 20 gallon per minute pump ends for the subs.

That depends on how you want to control your sprinkler system. You could simply turn it on and off with a sprinkler timer. No tank or pressure switch would be needed then unless you want to:

    A. Use the pressure switch and tank as a safety net to protect the pump in the event a valve doesn't open when the timer sends it power. or:
    B. You want to hand water or wash cars, use one hose and sprinkler etc. Then the tank and switch would be a must.

Neither! Those are both Centrifugals. You need either a Jet or a Sub.

There is no downside to ordering the 1.5hp. Just be sure to tell me to trick up the jet for you if your going to use the CSV. It will work good then.
The pump you want is the SFH. It's at this link:

Be sure to order the bolt on shallow well jet for the pump. It's a convertable and doesn't come with it.

The CSV will be the next thing in line after the Pump. Then the tank and pressure switch.
