I am so glad I found this message board. I know nothing about pumps and tanks, and I can't find any salesperson with enough knowledge to help me.
I know I need a pump, and I found what my in-laws use right next door to my house, but I want to see if I can do it for less money. They have a shallow well jet pump with a five gallen tank as a single unit, and the tank has a bladder. I found one at Lowes for $300. I tried to find it on their website to post a picture here but they don't have it listed there.
The other option I have is cheaper, but I don't know if it will work. I can get a clearanced shallow well jet pump for $50 at Sears and a separate five gallon tank at Lowes for $70. The tank has a bladder like I need and some kind of air letout valve on the top. The salesman at Lowes said that valve was important. He had me really confused when he said I didn't even need a pump if that valve was set right.
If I can do the job right for $120 dollars I would love it. If it is going to be a complicated mess trying to figure out what goes where I will just have to quit pinching pennies and go for the $300 pump. *Sigh*
Though I think I have made it complicated already! Please if anyone can shed some light on this it would be awesome. I can get pictures of all that I'm talking about if need be.
Thanks!
