Hello all, just read every post on this great forum, I've seen posts that come close but not quite exact to my problem ....
I have a Sta-Rite HLE 1 HP above ground pump/motor and a Sta-Rite 120(???) bladder tank that are just afew years old, 2 pipes coming from pump that connect at the 3" pipe going down to the well, well depth unknown...
2 days ago, pump wouldnt turn off, read this forum and replaced the 30/50 pressure switch with same, even though it looked to be in near perfect shape other than afew spider webs, checked air in tank, was at 11 psi so I pumped it up to 28, turned power back on and same problem, called Mr. Well Man to come out, came out next day, durring the night I turned off power to pump so it wouldnt run all night, I lost prime so I took the plug off and reprimed and took a shower, guy came out and put new pressure guage on (old one not working,) and took motor off pump and cleaned turbines (???) and replaced gasket,he opened faucet and tons of grit/dirt even leaves came out, but still, the pump wouldn't turn off (BTW it only goes to about 32psi and wont built any more pressure than that) so he turned the nut on the pressure switch to lower the cut on/off pressure until it turned off, said I need to have truck come in and clean the jets down in the well, I didn't know there was anything down the pipes, just a pipe going down to water??? Anyway, now pump is working normal except cuts in at about 20psi and of at about 30....
Questions are: Is there anything I can do to raise pressure that the pump produces? I would have to adjust pressure switch and air in tank again but thats no big deal. And what could have caused this to happen all of the sudden, no problems since new pump and air tank installed afew years ago. And how on earth (no punn intended) did leaves get into well, pump or pipes.
This is the best forum I have found about pumps, don't know much about them, just let it sit in the back yard and do its thing.
Any thoughts, ideas or even just comments would be appreciated.... sorry for such a long post but I wanted to be as specific as I could to help you guys diagnose my problem.
Thanks a million,
Thomas
