We have a summer cottage up north, with an aging and fussy jet pump
that requires a real nack to get primed in the spring. Water comes directly from the lake.
The cottage is only 40-50' off shore, mild grade, only 8-10' above waterline.
I'm attracted to the silence and inconspicuousness of a submersible pump, but I don't know much about them, particularly draining the pipe below the waterline in the fall, and getting them going in the spring. I also don't know what size bladder/pressure tank to get.
Usually only two of us at the cottage, but sometimes with guests > 5-6 for a weekend. We do have a dishwasher.
So, I guess the question is: would a submersible pump be a worthwile upgrade to the jet pump? or is it actually harder to drain or prime in a seasonal usage application?
