Hi, newbie here... I want to install an old Red Jacket hand pump on my property via a hand driven well point. Water table is high, 8 to 12 feet from surface. I have the pump less the rod and cylinder. My questions:
How do I determine what size cylinder to get and where does it attach in the system? I thought the cylinder would get housed in the pump casing, but the pump only has a 1 5/8" opening in the bottom so I don't think it would fit inside. Would it attach to the well pipe below the surface?

Do I need a flange to secure the pump to the ground or can I just pour a small concrete pad and anchor the pump to that?
Any and all information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
