I am very new to water wells and I am learning very quickly. I purchased a peice of property with a verticle deep well jet pump. It is approximatetly 25 feet deep. It stop holding the prime and pressure. I have isolated the presure loss from the pressure regulator down. I have been told that I need to replace the leathers and check the foot valve, there for I pulled the pipe out of the ground and found that the leathers were deteriorating and they do need to be replaced. However, I am unable to tell if the two leathers go in the same direction or face opposite directions as there was not much left of them. The foot valve looks fine and doesn't appear to have any issues. Can any one please tell me the directions the leathers should be placed on.

Thanks
