I have a jet pump and had an issue with pump cycling on and off. You could see the pressure drop with no water running. Had a well guy come out and determined that my foot valve was bad and it was underground. Husband had just passed away and didnt' have the money to fix that but he told me that he could put a check valve before the pump and this would work. That is what he did and now all is working perfect, but in speaking to my neighbor he seems to think this is not a good fix and won't last long. I am worried about winter and water breaking and I am currently under treatment for cancer so money is an issue.

Is my neighbor correct?
