Howdy , I am going to install a pitcher pump at the kitchen sink in a cabin . The water source will be a 500 gal storage tank under the cabin .

My question is this : must the cylinder chamber and check valve be placed directly in the water in the tank or can a flexible (black plastic) suction line be inserted into the water and have the primed cylinder chamber be suspended under the pump but not be actually in the water itself ?

I ask this question because I am wondering if the tank placement must be actually located directly under the pump ( where the cylinder chamber could be inserted and submerged in the tank OR can the tank be located in an area not directly under the pump and have only a suction line (fitted below or after the cyl chamber and check valve) inserted into the tank ?

Hope this made some sorta sense....Thanks !
