What is the differance between a 220 volt pump and a 230 volt pump, both being on a 4" deep well type?
There is no difference, in the USA voltages are typically refered to as 110/220, or 120/240, 230 is what you may have due to voltage drop.
or some say the voltage is 115/230, it depends...

From my understanding the ratings on most motors have the HP, rpm and voltage. The HP is rated at the peak rpm at that particular voltage.
In essence it means little to the consumer, they all work fine whether it is 220, 230 or 240 as Rancher pointed out. It is mearly the rating for the motor.
