It's too late for me, since my system is installed, but I was wondering what the proper configuration of components is for a lake-sourced water supply. Assuming you've sized the components correctly, how should all components be assembled (including filters and UV lights). Where should shutoffs be added. What about unions to ease in removing components. Will pressure gauges on each side of the filters help indicate when the filter is getting clogged? Should a charcoal filter be before or after the UV light (I've gotten conflicting advice on that one).

My system has few unions, but shutoffs on either side of the filters and UV Light. It's made of 1" PVC which makes it impossible to disassemble (ie: sweat the joints) if needed. I'm sure I'll have to tear it apart at some point down the road, so I'd like to know the optimal reconfiguration.

Thanks.
