I put my 1/2hp sub pump in the cistern the other day. I spliced the wires together with the splice kit Bob sold me. The pump instructions said to test the splices by immersing them in water for 10 min. then test with an ohmmeter; one probe on one end of a wire and the other probe on a piece of metal in the water. The reading should be >2 M-Ohm. The reading I got was .5-.6 average for the 3 wires, with the meter set on the 20-Mohm scale. Does this mean that the reading was .5 X 20-Mohm = 10 M-ohm? I don't have alot of experience with a multitester.
